Have you guys heard of The Potter’s School?  It is an online school set up to assist students with those tough classes that I myself am a bit nervous to be teaching.  I believe that the live instruction and discussion format would be quite useful.

Live instruction and discussion – Most of us have tried self-study, recorded courses, and even forum or chat-based classes. While they all have their place, we all realize that the best instruction is live, where we can both listen and question. Audio + visual + interactivity has been the best way to learn since human learning began. TPS uses all of these mediums and more in small interactive classes to maximize your learning opportunity.

I really appreciate their dedication to spiritual matters.

Character and spiritual preparation – We help students to see their schoolwork, extracurriculars (sports, music, debate), family life (chores, family time and events), and church life (community and ministry) as an integrated process of labor that is all to be done in excellence as unto the Lord. We plan and adjust the workload in our courses to support this approach, maintaining high academic and biblical standards. We make biblical excellence in labor achievable through a grace-centered process, without lowering the bar to get there.

I also understand why they aren’t seeking accreditation, however I need to do more research to discover if this is necessary for my students to get into college.  They do offer a website (NARHS) where home educators can receive high school diplomas.

U.S. universities and military academies usually provide a straightforward path for application by homeschoolers, so in most states it is not necessary or even preferable for homeschoolers to have an accredited diploma. Therefore, The Potter’s School is not accredited and is not pursuing accreditation. Instead we provide top-quality course content, feedback and evaluation that homeschooling families can use for their transcripts in any way they choose.

Therefore, The Potter’s School also does not provide a transcript. Instead we provide objective evaluation that families can reflect in their transcripts and portfolios in a manner best suited to their educational requirements. The Potter’s School offer seminars and counseling on building your college transcript as a homeschooler.

So now my research begins.  What are you doing for your high school transcripts?  Will you even bother with it?  How are you handling your high schoolers tough subjects?
