This week was a delightful week of schooling, and I will happily enjoy them when they come!!  The kids did a GREAT job working off their checklists and taking charge of their assignments.  I have no idea why I didn’t do this earlier!!  It’s one of those things that seems like a no-brainer, but it sure took me a while to figure it out 😦

We don’t really do a proper ‘home-ec’ curriculum, but we do life in this house every day.  The kids are involved with chores, grocery shopping, and cooking.  My daughter made a box cake all by herself and boy was she proud.  It made me feel pretty good too… I see a future here of sharing supper duties 😉

I got a kick out of this sight this week.  My oldest was doing his reading happily all by himself… but notice his beloved Jedi weapon is nearby.  You just never know when you may be attacked by Sand Raiders during school, right? 😉

It’s been a busy week chasing after the 1yr old!!  Thankfully the other kids have been so ‘on track’ because this little guy has me running steps all day long.  His favorite thing to do is get into the color pencils and run around the house with them.  I didn’t realize his great love for the pencils until I found him in our sitting room with that ‘innocent’ look on his face!!  Gee, Noah, did you get into the pencils again??

I absolutely love our Tapestry of Grace curriculum!!  The kids are talking Ancient Egypt at supper and even with each other.  We watched a video last night about King Tut’s tomb and the kids were helping to fill daddy in with extra knowledge about things seen in the video.  They read above and beyond in their reading books; this I LOVE!!!  They are active at the library helping me search for books; this curriculum forced us to be more involved with using the local library.  The curriculum encouraged me to make their assignment charts, which have been a God-send with a little one at the table.  If you love history and enjoy reading with your kids, this is really a great curriculum to consider!!  There may be rough weeks ahead, but the 1st two weeks of TOG make me wish I had been doing this long before now!  🙂
